Tracy Carter Bio

Grammy-nominated artist, musician, producer, philanthropist, and visionary Tracy Carter has spent a

lifetime creating music that transcends genre and speaks to the human spirit. Rooted in truth, faith, and

artistic freedom, Carter is dedicated to crafting music that tells stories, uplifts listeners, and reflects his

authentic identity.

Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Carter's musical journey began at an early age. Raised in a

household where music was a constant presence, his mother introduced him to legendary artists such as

Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, and countless others, shaping his appreciation for diverse sounds and

musical traditions. By sixteen, he was spending countless hours in recording studios alongside musicians

who became both mentors and lifelong peers.

At twenty-one, Carter toured Europe with Foley, the acclaimed bassist best known for his work with Miles

Davis. The following year, he signed with Raphael Saadiq, whose mentorship and artistry continue to

influence his musical vision today.

​

Throughout his career, Carter has developed a signature sound that seamlessly blends contemporary

gospel, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and soul. Rather than chasing labels or trends, he creates from a place of

authenticity. "People will categorize you anyway," Carter says. "If I spend my time caring what others think,

I'll become that instead of myself."

Faith remains the foundation of both his life and his work. A devoted believer, Carter previously served as

Music Director at Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California. Today, his relationship with God

continues to shape every aspect of his artistry, inspiring music that reflects purpose, hope, and truth.

As a performer, producer, and creative leader, Carter has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed artists

while embracing opportunities to explore cultures, genres, and musical traditions around the world. He is

currently focused on recording new music, expanding his creative vision, and building his own record label

and platform for future artists.

Beyond his accomplishments in music, Carter is deeply committed to mentorship and philanthropy. He

believes that knowledge should be shared freely with those who are passionate about their craft and willing
